Is it necessary for my business to be big before committing to digital marketing in 2022?

Well, the answer is simply no! You don’t have to be a big corporation or have a sizable budget before starting digital marketing.

Dear reader, it’s great to see you back on my page. In this article, I’d like to address some frequently asked questions from clients about whether only large corporations require digital marketing to scale up their businesses. I’ll also discuss a few of the benefits of digital marketing for small businesses. So many small business owners I've encountered—or, let's say, pitched digital marketing ideas to—often use the same speech.

“I'm so sorry at this point in my business. I do not believe that digital marketing is necessary.”

“My business isn't big enough, you know that, girl. This is only relevant to large corporations.”

I find this kind of commentary shocking because it makes me wonder who the eff still holds these views in 2022.

Let's take a step back...

What exactly is digital marketing?

In layperson's language, digital marketing is the process of getting your brand or business out there on the internet. You may argue that you have a large considerable amount of customers or clients who visit your stores on a daily basis, so what are you saying?

What I mean is that digital marketing entails more than simply having customers walk into your stores or call you for their next order. It is ensuring that your company is in their hearts, or should I say, in their faces, and that your brand is preferred over your competitor's. Digital marketing is a type of marketing that involves using the internet and online-based technologies to promote products and services. Imagine the potential of today's mobile technology. Everyone is on one social media platform looking for something to consume, buy, or be entertained with, which makes it easier to connect to a large base of potential customers across borders and communities.

Contrary to the widespread misconception that only large corporations need online marketing, small business owners can also invest in it. I strongly urge Start-up and small business owners to incorporate more online marketing strategies into their operations. The world has gone digital, and everything is now done online.

Effective digital marketing strategies are ideal for small businesses because they not only help put your brand in front of millions of people but also help you understand people’s behavior, which will help you target your ideal customers.

Perhaps, in another article, I will go into greater detail about how digital marketing can assist businesses and corporations in identifying their target audience or customers. Please leave a comment if this is a topic you’d like me to cover.

Benefits of online marketing for small businesses and brands.

There are numerous advantages to online marketing, which is also known as digital marketing, but there is a slight difference between the two.

Digital marketing encompasses both online and offline marketing (traditional marketing), whereas online marketing focuses solely on the online (internet) aspect of marketing.

Among the many advantages of digital marketing are:

  1. Potential customers can be found online in much larger numbers than you will ever be able to attract locally.
  2. You can reach a global audience using digital marketing techniques that are cost-effective, scalable, and measurable.
  3. The ability to interact with prospects and learn exactly what they are looking for, i.e., you learn more about your customers! Consider running a toy store for children. Then, based on teen and mom interaction on social media, you can figure out what toys the kids want and stock up on them before they ask. Isn’t that incredible?
  4. Because digital has no geographical boundaries, it allows you to reach out to anyone and anywhere at any time through campaigns, promotions, and ads.
  5. Personalization is easier with digital marketing because you can target the right audience at the right time.
  6. Communicate with your prospects at every stage of the purchasing process.
  7. Allows you to save money while expanding your customer base.

Thank you for your time and have a fun-filled weekend!

Cheers,
