Remy I have gotten the skills, the certifications but how can I find my first client as a social media manager?

Congrats 🎉 but finding your first client shouldn't be that difficult if you follow these steps I am about to share.

The first thing you want to do is to attend networking events.

It’s scary right? I know! Networking isn’t my strong suit either but I’m making an effort to make it one.

How would people know what you do, if you don’t network or meet new people in your industry? So try to attend specific industry related events, workshops, and conferences to connect with potential clients and colleagues in the field.

When you get there, don't just sit, and take photos, build relationships, exchange business cards or social media handles and follow up with personalised messages to explore collaboration opportunities.

Showcase your expertise and skills by creating valuable content related to social media management.

Open a social media account on the major social media platforms,e.g IG, Tiktok, etc

Share tips, insights, and success stories on your social media profiles or blog to position yourself as a trusted authority in your niche.

You should also consider offering your services pro bono to a select few clients in exchange for testimonials and case studies.

I know some of you are already grumbling about this idea, but believe me when I say this will not only help you build your portfolio but also allows you to showcase your skills and results to attract paying clients in the future.

Maybe for your friends and families. You may offer to manage their business online at discounted rates or with other benefits as compensation for your time and skills.

Lastly, join some social media manager community online.

There are community groups and channels for social media managers on telegram, Instagram, twitter etc that you can join.

They share social media managers job opportunities, internships, etc. Look for them and join. You might get your first client from there.

So these are some actionable tips that have worked for me and I believe will work for you if you follow them.

Remember, consistency is key.

Helpful? Don’t forget to hit follow for your daily dose of social media wisdom!

Thanks for reading!
